color changing LED shelf
I decided to try my hand at an LED color changing shelf, for the house. Now I'm using an expensive piece of black walnut, but some cheaper pine with a dark stain can get the similar look. I began by drawing my layout with light pencil marks. The plan is to have clear plastic around the edges and room in the middle for the LED strip.
Once I cut my top and bottom pieces at 2 feet, I painted the inside square white to increase the amount of light bouncing around. Then I notched out where my LED strip will go with a Dremel tool.
I also cut the plastic sheet with the Dremel in a C shape, Leaving the back side open to run the power cord. Then glued the plastic and LED strip in place on one side with super glue.
I used 2 screws to attach the bottom plate. This is just in case I want to take it apart in the future to change anything. Very happy with the result, looks great in any room!
